Trainer Internship

We are looking for someone for 6 mo up to 1 year(preferred).  

We will evaluate your skills to see if they meet our criteria. Please do not apply if you cannot supply some type of resume and list of references. Please have some type of video and photos of you working with horses. Must be willing to work with our trainer or any others that we have designated to assist with training of horses. The goal is to help them to be the best they can be and to find good forever homes.

**We do not use harsh training methods or harsh tack here. No abuse is tolerated.**

Someone with CURRENT EXPERIENCE---able to start horses with ground training and move on to saddle training. Someone who wants to broaden skills, build confidence with hands on learning with horses getting them ready for adoption. This is to include--teaching haltering, leading, picking up feet for farrier, grooming, bathing, lunging where able, getting used to tack, desensitizing. Must be an EARLY riser. We maintain a 6-day work week with consistent barn hours. Opportunity to learn--video library, help horses that oridinarily would not have a second chance at life. We do a lot of medical here and you can gain insight into this. Someone willing to work with young horses, inexperienced horses. Someone with people skills who can get along with the volunteers who come here to learn. Must know how to clean tack and tack horses. Must use leg wraps/polos/boots when exercising horses.

Someone with initiative and organized, people skills, not afraid of physical work. Someone who can work independantly-- no hand holding. No princesses or entitled attitudes - We don't do drama. Someone 21 or older, single. Proper barn attire MANDATORY. No alcohol/drugs allowed on property, must be alcohol and drug free even if you go to town as we are a Sober Living Residence.

Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate pets or additional horses. We currently have 8 dogs on property/in house and cat inside. We also have many barn cats.

Work reference for those who stay for a minimum of 6 months. 

Depending on time of year, availability you will be able to attend any clinics, travels to clinics with the group if scheduled. You are able to attend the Horse Feathers program via Krystal Kelly--Online Instructor. 

**In certain circumstances and depending on qualifications there may be a stipend given monthly of $150 maximum is $250 to offset all the things we don't provide while here. This is determined on experience and level of knowledge. Those with higher levels will receive the higher stipend. Must complete the month to qualify.** If you leave early then you forfeit and depending on circumstances stipend will be prorated.

Accommodations:

Free Room/Board/Meals Free wi-fi. Room in main house to stay in. Full bath in hallway, you must keep it clean as it is our "Guest" bath also. 5 miles from town, shopping. We provide bathroom supplies, laundry supplies, snacks, museum trips and more. We are like "family" here, community where we all work together. We need someone we can trust with the care of our horses and to be in our home. Will pick up from airport. Can assist with transport to town. 

Day and times off can be discussed to set schedule.
